NEW ORLEANS - After playing each other four times during the 2017 calendar year, the Tulane and Tulsa men's basketball teams will settle the next chapter of their American Athletic Conference rivalry in Tulsa on Thursday, February 8 as the Green Wave seeks a regular season series split for the second year in a row.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT) at the Reynolds Center, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNews with streaming available on the WatchESPN app. Roy Philpott will call play-by-play action, while Mark Wise provides color commentary.
HISTORY LESSON
• Thursday's meeting between the Green Wave and Golden Hurricane will mark the 26th all-time, as Tulsa leads the series, 19-6.
• The teams last met on New Year's Eve for Tulane's first home conference game of the season, as Tulsa escaped New Orleans with a nine-point victory.
• Cameron Reynolds scored 15 points and Blake Paul blocked six shots at the defensive end of the floor, but Tulsa placed four scorers in double digits, led by Martins Igbanu's 15 points and game-high nine rebounds, while Sterling Taplin also poured in 15.
• The Golden Hurricane owned a 52-30 rebounding advantage while outscoring the Green Wave, 30-20, in the paint and and 10-1 on second chance baskets.
LAST TIME OUT
• In a game that featured 10 ties and nine lead changes, Tulane split a regular season American Athletic Conference series with Temple as a result of an 83-76 loss Sunday afternoon in New Orleans.
• Jordan Cornish led four Green Wave players in double figures with a season-high 20 points and three 3-pointers made, while Samir Sehic compiled a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Cameron Reynolds also posted a double-double - his third of the season - with 16 points, 10 boards and five assists, while Ray Ona Embo added 12 points, seven rebounds and four helpers.
• Nate Pierre Louis scored 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting off the bench, while Shizz Alston, Jr., posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists for Temple (13-10, 5-6 AAC).
• Tulane committed just nine turnovers and outscored Temple, 42-30, in the paint and 13-11 off turnovers while owning a +5 margin on the glass, but the Owls made 12 3-pointers to the Green Wave's three, while handing out 23 assists with just 10 turnovers and shot north of 48 percent overall from the field.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
• After starting conference play with a 3-0 record, Tulsa has dropped five of its last eight games, but owns a 4-1 mark on its home court in league play.
• The Golden Hurricane ranks second in free throw percentage (.733) and fourth in rebounding (38.7) in the American, but stands last in blocks (2.1) and 11th in steals (4.7) per game.
• Junior Etou ranks third in rebounding (7.8) and seventh in the conference in scoring (15.3), while Sterling Taplin is fourth in assists per game (4.3). Curran Scott tops all players in free throw percentage at 86 percent, while Corey Henderson is fifth in 3-pointers made.
FRAZIER'S FINEST
• Melvin Frazier is the only player in NCAA Division I men's basketball shooting at least 55 percent from the field and averaging at least 2.4 steals per game this season.
• He has nine 20-point performances and three double-doubles, while his .589 shooting percentage leads all players in the American Athletic Conference.

AAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
• Tulane has had players named to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll on four occasions this season, including Samir Sehic (Nov. 13), Cameron Reynolds (Jan. 8) and Melvin Frazier twice (Jan. 15 and Jan. 22).
MAN OF STEALS
• Melvin Frazier ranks first in the American Athletic Conference in steals (52) and steals per game (2.4), and has at least three heists in 11 contests this season.
• As a sophomore, Frazier finished the 2016-17 regular season No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference in steals per game (1.9), while his 55 takeaways ranked second overall.
BRINGING THE RAIN
• The Green Wave have made double-digit 3-pointers in seven games this season, including in three straight games against Alcorn State (14) on Nov. 29, at North Carolina (10) on Dec. 3 and vs. Southern (10) on Dec. 6.
• Tulane's 14 treys against Alcorn State and at Memphis on Jan. 9 were not only season highs, but tied for the third most in a single game in program history.
• The Wave have hit at least 14 3-pointers just six times in school history, with the most being 16 in a 2015 matchup against UCF.
