Kaleb Roper Named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane junior pitcher Kaleb Roper was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing eight shutout innings against Purdue on Friday, the league office announced Monday.
Roper's Friday night performance led the Green Wave to a 1-0 victory over the Boilermakers and set the tone for the series. He fanned eight batters and allowed just two hits and two walks, posting season highs in strikeouts and innings pitched. The Kenner, La., native outdueled Purdue's Tanner Andrews through seven-and-a-half scoreless frames before Tulane scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Green Wave went on to win two of three games from the Boilermakers, including a 6-2 victory on Sunday.
This is the first American Athletic Conference weekly award for Roper, and the first for a Tulane player this season.
Tulane (8-8) plays host to UL-Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Southern Miss at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
