Jul 13, 2018 | Women's Bowling
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane bowling trio of sophomore Madison McCall and incoming freshmen Crystal Signh and Veronica Petrinec will compete in the USBC Junior Gold Championships this weekend in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.
The prestigious tournament runs from Saturday, July 14 through Saturday, July 21.
McCall competed in the tournament last year, advancing past the qualifying rounds and into the advancing rounds of the competition. She was the first Tulane bowling incoming freshman to advance past the qualifying rounds. Singh and Petrinec also competed in the U20 Junior Gold Championships in 2017, and Singh joined McCall in reaching the advancers round.
This spring McCall became the first Green Wave freshman bowler to earn All-America honors when she was named an Honorable Mention All-America by the National Tenpin Coaches Association.
Singh and Petrinec will begin classes at Tulane this fall and compete for the Green Wave bowling program. Singh is a former high school All-American, individual Florida High School State Champion and the 2016 and 2017 Broward County Bowler of the Year. Petrinec is a former Florida high school state individual runner-up and team champion.
The Junior Gold Championships is an annual national tournament for the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States. In addition to the ability to earn scholarships, youth bowlers in the U20 and U15 divisions have the opportunity to earn a spot on the Junior Team USA.
