MOBILE, Alabama – The Tulane University women's golf team carded a second-round score of 291 to move into a third-place tie with Lamar and Western Kentucky. The Green Wave enter final round competition with a two-day total of 580.
Â
The three-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,002-yard RTJ Magnolia Grove – Crossing Course.
Â
Each member of Tulane's lineup shot 74 or better to push the Green Wave within four shots of tournament leader USF (576).
Â
"We had lots of great things happen today," head coach Lorne Don said. "Obviously having five players shoot 74 or better is fantastic. I think we have some great consistency along with some depth and that's what we are looking for."
Â
Sophomore Jennifer Rosenberg and senior Laura Munoz each carded rounds of even par are both tied for 10th with two-round totals of 143. Â
Â
"Laura (Munoz) and Jenny (Rosenberg) both played very competitively today and were very consistent," Don said.
Â
Rounding out the Tulane lineup is junior Gabrielle Correia (tied for 30th), freshman Isabella Cardenas (tied for 34th) and junior Haydyn Gibson (tied for 34th), as they carded day two scores of 74, 74 and 73, respectively.
Â
"Haydyn (Gibson) played her last seven holes three-under-par, which is great," Don said. "Gabrielle played her back nine two-under-par and Isabella played pretty well, so all and all it was a pretty solid day."
Â
Final day action will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Green Wave will be in the lead pairing with players from South Florida and California Baptist.
Â
"We have ourselves in position to win and that's where we want to be," Don said. "If we can stay aggressive and stick to our game plan we'll be happy with the results."
