
Track and Field Returns to Action in Birmingham

NEW ORLEANS – After a long seven weeks off, the Green Wave indoor track and field team will return to action in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday when it competes in the Samford Invitational.
The meet will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, where the Wave found a victory when they last competed in December. The CrossPlex will also host the American Athletic Conference Championship and the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

The competition this weekend consists of Division I teams including Alabama State, Arkansas State, Kennesaw State, McNeese State and the host Bulldogs of Samford.
The one-day meet begins at with field events at 8 a.m. Tulane will compete in the high jump, triple jump and pole vault with five entrants in the pole vault. Running begins at noon with the 60-meter dash and continues throughout the day until the 4x400 relays end the meet at 4 p.m.
Hoping to start 2019 strong, this weekend will give the Wave the opportunity to show a repeat of their success back in November in the very same venue where they posted 19 top-five finishes and easily took home first place. The athletes have a full season ahead of them and intend to persist with that same force as they face the upcoming competition.
Following this weekend's action in Birmingham, the team will travel to Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Classic on January 25-26.
