NEW ORLEANS – Kylie Frick, a five-time USBC Junior Gold qualifier and defending league scoring title holder has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Tulane bowling team it was announced on Wednesday.
Frick is the second bowler to sign with the squad for the 2019 season, joining Amelia Vasquez who signed with the team in November.
"Kylie will be a great addition to the team. I really like her bowling style and her conscientious work ethic," coach Hayley Veitch said. "She has been a very solid bowler for Schaumburg High School, and I am excited for Kylie to continue her high standard of bowling at Tulane."
As a junior in 2018, Frick was the anchor and helped lead Schaumburg to a 90-9 overall record and a third-place finish at the Illinois High School Association state competition. Frick herself finished seventh with an average of 209.67, leading the entire field after day one of the competition with 1,346 pins knocked down and average of 224.33.
That season, Frick claimed the Mid Suburban League individual championship and claimed the conference, regional and sectional individual titles as well.
Frick's sophomore campaign in 2017 saw her ascend into the anchor position following a strong freshman campaign, helping lead the Lady Saxons to an unblemished 99-0 record. It was the first time in the history of the conference that a team went through a season undefeated, claiming the first of two team MVP awards and All-State honors.
On the national level, Frick has been competing on the big stage since 2014 where she was the Illinois Pepsi Champion at the U15 level, earning four top 60 finishes in the division. She earned a youth doubles title in 2015, and just this past summer bowled her first 300 game in the Junior Bowlers Scholarship Tour.
Sporting a 3.9 GPA, Frick is a member of the Schaumburg Student Athlete Leadership Team and has earned the IHSA Scholastic Achievement Award.
