Lavery, Sisti Claim Singles Draws at Florida State
Nov 10, 2019 | Women's Tennis
TALLAHASSEE - Sophomore Adelaide Lavery and senior Christina Sisti took home singles crowns in their respective singles draw, as the Tulane women's tennis team concluded its 2019 fall season on the final day of the Seminole All-Conference Showdown at Florida State University.
After winning a pair of matches in straight sets on Saturday, Lavery dropped the first set of her championship match, 7-5, to Furman's Maggie Pate. Lavery was dominant from that point however, forcing a third frame with a 6-3 second-set triumph. Lavery imposed her will on Pate even further in the final set, cruising to a 6-1 win to complete the comeback and polish off an undefeated weekend in singles.
Senior Christina Sisti also finished the weekend on a high note in her title match, topping South Florida's Janvhi Clark in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to complete her fall campaign with a winning streak.
Redshirt sophomore Lauren Gish also found herself in the championship match of her singles draw following wins over players from MTSU and Wisconsin in the first two rounds. On Sunday, she fell short of making it 3-for-3 for the Wave in the finals, suffering a straight-set defeat to ETSU's Maria Carvajal to claim second place in the draw.
Tulane returns to action January 19 for the start of the spring season with a home doubleheader against Alcorn State.
