COMPLETE RESULTS
DALLAS – The Tulane University women's swimming and diving team captured its second straight win Friday night as it defeated SMU 154-146 at the Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
The Green Wave jumped out to an early lead as they captured four of the first five individual events to jump out to the early lead. In total, Tulane swimmers captured nine racing events, including the 200-yard medley (1:43.59) and 400-yard freestyle (3:27.61) relay.
"Tonight was really a great meet," head coach Leah Stancil said. "The girls swam really well and raced really well. There's still a few things that we can work on, but I'm pretty happy with how aggressive they competed. They had a mission tonight and they worked really hard to achieve it."
Sophomore Kate McDonald led the way for the Green Wave as she won three individual events, which included the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.24), 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.53) and 200-yard IM races (2:03.53). She also swam the second leg of the Green Wave's 200-yard medley relay.
Senior Shelly Zelnick also turned in a strong showing as she posted winning performances in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.28) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.52).
Junior Olivia Johnson (500-yard freestyle, 5:00.40) and freshman Noa Heron (1,000-yard freestyle, 10:07.86) also turned in first-place showings.
Tulane returns to action on Feb. 27 as it travels to the American Athletic Conference Championships. The four-day event will be held in Indianapolis, Ind.
