
Tulane Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season in Hammond Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – As March begins, so does the outdoor track & field season for the Green Wave. Tulane will start its season on Saturday in nearby Hammond at the Southeastern Strawberry Relays hosted by Southeastern Louisiana.
Action begins with field events at 10 a.m. At noon, track events get going with the 1500 and 800.
Tulane will be competing against local and regional teams including South Alabama, Troy, Southern, Xavier, Louisiana College and the host Lions.

Saturday will mark the first time Tulane's male athletes can officially compete for the Green Wave this season, as eight different runners will compete in mid-distance events and one thrower will compete in the field. Emmanuel Rotich and Tom Coe will run the 800 while Pierce Hill, Evans Kipchumba, Carlos Zervigon, Joshua Cheruyot, Jamie Polakoff and Ian Valdez will run the 1500. James Thomas Watson will make his season debut in the javelin.
Tulane's women competing on Saturday will exclusively be participating in field events. Emma King and Olivia Hicks will take part in the high jump while Kyla Denwood will make her season debut with the discus. Pauline Helm will also take part in the javelin and shot put, and Skyler Guillot will compete in her first javelin throw of the season as well.
Tulane will stay in state for its next meet when it travels to the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette on March 15-16.
