
Women's Tennis Hosts Harvard, Marshall

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team continues its home swing with a pair of matches on Thursday, March 21 against Harvard and Saturday, March 23 versus Marshall.

The Green Wave (5-11) will host the Crimson at 2:30 p.m., before challenging the Thundering Herd at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at the City Park Tennis Center.

SCOUTING HARVARD
The Crimson (9-5) enters Thursday's matchup with wins in three of their last four matches, most recently earning a road victory at Southern on Tuesday afternoon. They are led by Natasha Gonzalez's 12-4 overall record, which includes an 8-4 mark this spring playing primarily at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots in the lineup.

SCOUTING MARSHALL
The Thundering Herd (4-10) meets the Green Wave in the second of two straight road matches after playing at New Orleans on Friday afternoon. Marshall has two familiar foes of the Green Wave, holding wins over Middle Tennessee (4-3) and UAB (6-1). Anna Smith leads the team with a 9-5 overall singles record this spring, including an 8-5 mark at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.

LAST TIME OUT
Tulane dropped a tough, 4-3 home match against Middle Tennessee on Sunday. The Blue Raiders edged the Green Wave for the doubles point and split six singles contests. Daniela La Fuente and Laura Fabrizi closed out respective three-set wins, while Ivone Alvaro won in straight sets.

IN THE ITA RANKINGS
In the latest Oracle/ITA national rankings released on March 19, the doubles duo of Ivone Alvaro and Elena Muller are listed at No. 33 nationally. The duo owns a 14-2 overall record and a 12-1 mark at the top spot in the lineup this spring. Their season-high ranking was No. 25 on February 20.

THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in nine of 16 matches this season. The Green Wave's lone victory while not securing the point came in the season opener against Northwestern State, where Tulane walked away with a 4-3 victory.

5-STAR SIGNEES
Head coach Maria Brito and assistant coach Keri Wong have left their imprints on the recruiting trail since their arrival, and their efforts paid off in a big way in November during the NCAA Early Signing Period. The Green Wave reeled in two 5-star recruits according to tennisrecruiting.net with the additions of Lahari Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark.

Yelamanchili is the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and the No. 50 overall player in the class of 2019, while Clark is a Morristown, N.J. native who trains in College Park, Md., ranking No. 3 in the state and No. 77 nationally.
