NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane Green Wave baseball team will put a cap on its 12-game home stand this weekend with a three-game series against the HBU Huskies at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Â
All three games of the series can be heard locally in New Orleans on WRBH 88.3 FM, with a live stream of all three games available at TulaneGreenWave.com with Todd Graffagnini providing play-by-play coverage from the stadium.
Â
Friday is Teachers in Bleachers Night at the stadium, where the team will welcome all educators from the area with $5 tickets available at tulanetix.com by using the promo code "education" at checkout. The first 150 fans through the Turchin gates will receive a Tulane Green Wave mousepad.
Â
Saturday is the team's Bark in the Park event, where fans can get $10 tickets if they bring their dog to the game that afternoon. There will be Green Wave dog toys given away and a special section in the right field bleachers for fans and their dogs to sit and watch Tulane take on HBU. More information can be found here.
Â
The Green Wave will take their two-game winning streak into this weekend after defeating the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns 7-3 on Wednesday in New Orleans. Tulane produced 10 hits in the game and got solid pitching in some tough spots to move to 11-6 in home games this season.
Â
Tulane is now 3-0 against in-state opponents this season, as the squad took all three midweek games during this stretch of games at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Now the team will look to end the run with another home series victory against the Huskies.
Â
At the plate, Tulane comes into the series hitting .312 which continues to lead The American in that category as well as eight others. Six regular starters are hitting above .300 this season, with nine having double figure hits through this portion of the season.
Â
Infielder Kody Hoese has doubled his career total in home runs in just 21 games this season as his 10 lead The American after belting a solo shot against the Cajuns on Wednesday. He leads the team in home runs, total bases, and slugging so far this year.
Â
The RBI leader is freshman Hudson Haskin, who for the third time this year drove in four RBI in a game as he hit his fourth home run this season and had a 2-RBI single in key moments to propel the Tulane offense forward and has 24 in the campaign.
Â
The Green Wave will be looking to get the same consistency from the bullpen that they did against Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday, as Krishna Raj earned his second win of the year and the rest of the relief held firm in keeping the Ragin Cajuns off of the board the rest of the game after getting three runs over the course of three innings.
Â
Tulane will return with its stable of weekend pitchers in Kaleb Roper, Keagan Gillies and Chase Solesky, as Roper will be chasing his third victory of the year, Solesky looking for his second and Gillies gunning for his first.
Â
While the rest of the conference will begin the league slate in earnest starting Friday, Tulane will play its last non-conference weekend series by taking on a first-time opponent in the Huskies. HBU is the fourth team from the Southland Conference the Green Wave has faced so far this season, as the Huskies are 5-15 on the year and have dropped their last four. Â
