Track & Field Ready to Divide, Conquer at Four Meets This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS – The Green Wave track & field teams will be spread throughout four different meets in two states this weekend with student-athletes heading to either California or Texas for competition.
Distance runners Emma Newton, Mckenzie Melius and Emmanuel Rotich will be off to the Golden State with Newton running the 10K at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic hosted by San Francisco State on Thursday. Melius and Rotich will participate in the Stanford Invitational, running the 3K steeplechase on Friday evening.
Closer to home, select members of the team will be racing at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. Aldrianna Dupree (100), Brandi Hughes and Kyah Loyd (100 hurdles), Tom Coe (1500) and Rebekah Markel (pole vault) will vie for titles at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The largest group for the Green Wave this weekend will head to nearby San Marcos, Texas, to take part in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State.

Last weekend, Tulane got five event victories, 16 top-five finishes and three new entries into the school's all-time top 10 during their trip to Houston for the Victor Lopez Classic. Tom Coe, Rotich, Melius, Markel and Mary Catherine Stovall all picked up victories for Tulane.
After this weekend, the Green Wave will reunite in April for the Cole-Lancon Conference Challenge hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette. That meet will take place April 12-13.
