NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team hits the field again on Tuesday night, traveling up the road to take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field in Hammond.
Â
The Green Wave's final non-conference game outside of the city limits will air on the radio home for Tulane baseball on WRBH 88.3 FM locally in New Orleans with Todd Graffagnini. A link to the live stream provided by Southeastern Louisiana will be available at TulaneGreenWave.com.
Â
Riding a two-game winning streak Tulane heads into another midweek contest looking to continue its momentum with a little over five weeks of the season left, as winners of six of their last 10 overall the team comes into the contest with a 21-11 record. The Green Wave took two of three over the weekend against the Wichita State Shockers, pulling off another doubleheader sweep on Saturday at home to pull out the series.
Â
The team will be hoping for a better result in Hammond than the last two midweek contests, falling on game-ending home runs in visiting ballparks. The last win for the team came at home against Louisiana-Lafayette back on March 20.
Â
The Tulane offense is paced by the newly minted American Athletic Conference Player of the Week in Kody Hoese, earning the honor Monday after leading the team with 11 hits at the plate in Tulane's four games last week. Hoese is hitting .403, as his 16 home runs are tied for the lead in the country and 113 bases is tops in the nation coming into a new week.
Â
The only player that can come close at the moment is freshman Hudson Haskin, who produced a season-high four hits in the clincher on Saturday night, hitting .356. Trevor Jensen has 49 hits and leads the team in doubles with 12, as 10 total players have 10 hits or more this season.
Â
The pitching staff got production from a variety of arms over the weekend, as Krishna Raj and Chase Solesky each picked up their third wins of the season, while Brendan Cellucci tied for the team lead in saves, picking up his second by entering the game with runners on base and a slim two-run advantage before striking out three in 1.2 total innings of work in an eventual 8-4 win.
Â
Southeastern won two of three against New Orleans at Maestri Field over the weekend, sitting at 16-16 on the year and 8-4 in the Southland Conference and sitting in third place in the league.
Â
The Lions have gotten the better of the Green Wave the last few seasons, winning each of the last six meetings dating back to the 2016 campaign. However, Tulane leads the overall series 77-38.
