Â
The Green Wave come into the final two weeks of the season looking to gain some positive momentum on Tuesday after dropping two of three games over the weekend to the UCF Knights. Tulane still sits in second place in the conference with a 28-19 overall record and 10-7 mark in The American.
Â
Tulane is batting .308 at the plate as a team coming into the game against the Colonels, as if the season ended today the squad would have produced an offensive campaign that included the fourth-best slugging percentage and seventh most home runs and triples in a single season.
Â
Junior Kody Hoese leads that charge with a .404 batting clip at the plate, as his 21 home runs are second in the nation. Freshman Hudson Haskin in league games is hitting .469, which is tops in the conference, while Jonathon Artigues is second with a .417 mark in conference games, while having 10 games with multiple hits against league opponents.
Â
The Tulane pitching staff allowed just 11 total runs to the Knights over the weekend, the fewest combined runs allowed to a conference opponent all year so far. Senior Kaleb Roper was selected to the league's weekly honor roll for the second time this year after striking out 11 and allowing just one run to earn his sixth win of the season.
Â
Tulane is looking to pull off the sweep of the Colonels for the first time since 2015, as the Green Wave defeated Nicholls 7-4 in Thibodaux back on February 26. Nicholls is 24-24 on the year after dropping its series against HBU over the weekend.
