Men’s Basketball Adds Transfer Ibrahim Ali

NEW ORLEANS – The evolution of the Tulane men's basketball program's roster took another major step Tuesday, as first-year head coach Ron Hunter announced the signing of transfer Ibrahim Ali.
"Ibby is another exciting addition to our team because of what he brings to the table," Hunter said. "He has a year of experience at the college level like many of the new guys we've brought in this summer. His size and athleticism are elements that add balance of our offensive and defensive schemes."
Ali arrives in New Orleans after attending the University of Arkansas last year, but not compete for the Razorbacks. The 6-foot-10, 245-pound forward attended Maumelle High School in Arkansas, where he was tabbed a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com. Ali, a native of Lagos, Nigeria, sat out the 2017-18 season to work on his development, but averaged 4.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game at Maumelle in 2016-17.
Ali is the ninth newcomer on the Green Wave's 2019-20 roster, joining fellow incoming transfers Teshaun Hightower (Georgia), K.J. Lawson (Kansas), Nic Thomas (Norfolk State) and Christion Thompson (Rhode Island). Tulane's freshman core comprises Nobal Days, R.J. McGee, Tylan Pope and Charlie Russell Jr.
Tulane enters its first year under the leadership of Ron Hunter, who was named the program's new head coach in late March. His 445 career wins make him the winningest coach to ever lead the Green Wave.
