
Track and Field Returns to Action Friday at LSU

NEW ORLEANS — Just over one month since the indoor team's last competition, Tulane track and field returns to action this weekend and heads to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Purple Tiger at the Carol Maddox Fieldhouse.
The Green Wave will face 12 teams in Friday's meet, including LSU, Grambling, New Orleans, Nicholls, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Southern-New Orleans, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette, Xavier and Hinds Community College.
In regards to the field events, Tulane is scheduled to compete in the shot put and high jump, while also running in the women's 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter, mile, 400-meter, 200-meter and 4x400 meter relay races.
The shot put is set for a 2 p.m. start, followed by the high jump at 2:45 p.m. The 60-meter hurdle preliminaries will start at 1:10 p.m., with the 60-meter up next at 1:25 p.m. The mile begins at 3:15 p.m., the 400-meter starts at 3:55 p.m., the 200-meter kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and the 4x400 relay closes the day at 5:35 p.m.
The Olive and Blue were successful their last time out on the track, recording eight top-five finishes in the BSC Indoor Icebreaker in Birmingham, Alabama. In her first collegiate competition, freshman Maren Butler threw for 13.3 meters in the shot put to take the sixth overall spot in the Tulane record books.
