NEW ORLEANS, La. – After weeks of preparation, the 2020 edition of the Tulane Green Wave baseball team begins regular-season play on Friday night hosting the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles for a three-game series at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Â
The three-game set kicks off Friday at 6:30 p.m. under the lights at Turchin Stadium, with Saturday's game set for 2 p.m. and Sunday's finale beginning at 1 p.m. All three games of the series will be streamed live through Tulane All-Access, with links to the video and live stats
Â
The Green Wave are coming off a 32-win season from 2019 and return 17 letterwinners from that team that finished third in the American Athletic Conference. This year, Tulane was picked to finish fourth in The American, in a league that routinely sends multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year.
Â
After tying the school record for Major League Baseball draft picks with six, Tulane bolstered the ranks over the offseason and added 16 newcomers to the squad with six freshmen and 10 junior college transfers. Seven of those transfers are pitchers, as the rest are scattered throughout the infield, outfield and battery.
Â
This is the first-ever meeting between Florida Gulf Coast and Tulane on the diamond, as the Green Wave have only played two other current Atlantic Sun Conference teams Lipscomb and Stetson.
Â
FGCU enters the season after winning its fifth ASUN regular season title in 2019, as the 2020 team was picked to finish second in the league this year.
