
Track and Field to Compete in Texas Tech Shootout

NEW ORLEANS — Following a successful weekend in Nebraska's Frank Sevigne Invitational, the Tulane indoor track and field team is back on the road and headed to Lubbock, Texas this weekend to compete in the Texas Tech Shootout.
The meet opens at the Sports Performance Center on Friday with the high jump, beginning at 3:30 p.m., and is followed by the long jump at 4 p.m., the 800 meter at 5 p.m. and the 200-meter dash at 5:45 p.m.
The shot put kicks off the day on Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by the qualifying rounds of the 60-meter dash at 11:30 a.m. and the 60-meter hurdles at 12:05 p.m. The field events continue with the pole vault at 12 p.m. and the triple jump at 1 p.m., with the 400-meter dash in between the two at 12:35 p.m. The 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdle preliminaries are set for 2:30 p.m. and 2:50 p.m., respectively, with the 600 meter next up at 3:25 p.m.
The 60-meter hurdle finals are set to start at 3:50 p.m., with the 60-meter dash finals scheduled for 3:55 p.m. The Green Wave close day two with the 4x400 meter relay, beginning at 4:55 p.m.
Tulane ran in the Texas Tech Classic last season, totaling three new top-10 marks in program history in the 200-meter dash, 4x400 meter relay and the high jump.
In Tulane's last time out on the track, the Olive and Blue notched eight top five marks in a competitive field of 38 teams, also adding seven career-best times.
Sophomore Trina Malej moved from sixth to fourth overall in the Tulane record books with a new personal best distance of 12.85 meters (42-2.00) in the triple jump, taking fourth overall in the meet. The 4x400 relay team, consisting of senior Maya Harewood, junior Kyah Loyd, sophomore Louise Jones and sophomore Hunter Robinson, also broke into the program record books with the eighth best time in history at 3:44.09, winning their heat to finish in third of 18 teams.
