Men's Tennis Welcomes SMU to City Park Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team looks to get back to its winning ways on Sunday, February 16 against American Athletic Conference foe SMU. First serve is scheduled for noon at the City Park Tennis Center as part of a simultaneous competition alongside the Green Wave's women's team who will also face off against SMU.
SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs (8-2), who play at LSU on Saturday afternoon, enter the weekend with wins in five of their last six matches, including a 4-3 victory over Nebraska last Saturday. SMU owns a 6-1 record at home and a 1-1 mark in road contests this spring. The Ponies possess the nation's 55th-ranked doubles tandem comprised of Thomas Vaise and Caleb Chakravarthi, who own a 4-2 overall record and a 1-1 mark at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Jordi Redelijk owns a 5-1 singles record in dual matches, while Ethan Leon owns a team-leading 16-8 overall record, including a 4-2 mark this spring with a 3-0 ledger at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Tulane has defeated SMU in four straight meetings, including a 5-2 home win last spring in City Park. The Mustangs' last victory over the Green Wave came during the spring of 2013 in a 4-3 triumph in Dallas.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Green Wave possess two players listed in the ITA's national singles rankings, led by senior Ewan Moore at No. 49, as junior Hamish Stewart is listed at No. 64.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Tulane will play a minimum of 10 teams that earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2019, including Stanford, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Texas, TCU, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, UCF and USF. Texas claimed the 2019 NCAA title, while TCU reached the quarterfinals. California, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Stanford all reached the round of 16.
