Women's Tennis Hosts Conference Foe SMU

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team looks to defend its home court on Sunday, February 16 against American Athletic Conference foe SMU. First serve is scheduled for noon at the City Park Tennis Center as part of a simultaneous competition alongside the Green Wave's men's team who will also face off against SMU.
IN THE RANKINGS
Freshman Mackenzie Clark broke into the ITA's national singles rankings at No. 103 according to the latest poll released Feb. 5. She became the first Tulane women's tennis player to be listed in the poll since Klara Vyskocilova during the 2014 spring season.
SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs (6-0) will play at LSU on Saturday afternoon, but enter the weekend unbeaten this spring, including a 7-0 victory over Colorado in their most recent outing last Sunday. SMU plays just its second road match of the season after earning a 6-1 victory at Abilene Christian on January 19. Jackie Nylander and Claudia Bartolome own respective 6-0 singles records this spring, while Nylander is 5-0 playing at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while Bartolome holds the same mark at the No. 5 position.
DOUBLES POINT DICTATION
Tulane owns a 6-0 record when winning the doubles point this season, but has not recorded a victory without at least two doubles wins.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (6-2) collected its second straight win, defeated Nicholls, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon in City Park. The Green Wave captured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, respectively, before rattling off singles wins on courts one, two, four and five.
RANKED SINGLES WINS
Tulane junior Lauren Gish and freshmen Mackenzie Clark and Lahari Yelamanchili have all secured singles wins over ranked opponents in their first season with the Green Wave. Most recently, Clark upset 42nd-ranked Taylor Bridges at LSU on Jan. 31, after Gish defeated No. 116 Cameron Corse from Notre Dame and Yelamanchili outlasted No. 18 Eden Richardson of LSU during the fall season.
