
Track and Field Heads to LSU for Final Regular Season Meet

NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane indoor track and field team is gearing up for its final regular season competition before the American Athletic Conference Championship as the Green Wave head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana this weekend for the LSU Twilight.
Nine teams will be facing off in the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse on Friday, including LSU, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern.
Tulane will open the weekend with the qualifying round of the 60-meter dash at 2 p.m., followed by the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries at 3 p.m. The 600 meter is next up, at 3:30 p.m., before the mile at 4:10 p.m., the 400 meter at 4:30 p.m. and the 800 meter at 5 p.m. The 200-meter dash closes the day for the team at 5:15 p.m.
The pole vault kicks off field action on Friday for the Olive and Blue, beginning at 2:30 p.m., and is followed by the long jump at 3:30 p.m. and the shot put at 3:15 p.m. The field events continue with the triple jump at 5 p.m. and the high jump at 5:30 p.m.
Sophomore Trina Malej has continued to improve over the course of this season, most recently recording a career-best distance of 12.95 meters (42-6) in the triple jump at the Texas Tech Shooutout, the second best performance in the AAC this year.
Also making marks in the top five conference standings are junior Kyah Loyd and senior Brandi Hughes, who are currently fourth and fifth in the league this season with respective times of 8.44 and 8.47 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Nastja Modic's 4.10 meter mark in the pole vault last weekend moved the sophomore to second overall in The American, while sophomore Kristina Leggas stands in sixth at 3.85 meters.
