Hightower Awarded American Athletic Conference Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – After a standout week leading the Tulane men's basketball team to a pair of league wins, junior guard Teshaun Hightower has been named American Athletic Conference Player of the week in an announcement by the conference office.

Hightower is the Green Wave's third player of the week choice by The American since joining the league and first since Melvin Frazier received the honor in November of 2017.

A Lithonia, Ga., native, Hightower averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 58 percent from the field in two wins over SMU and at UCF last week.

He shot 8 of 10 overall, including two 3-pointers, and 8-for-9 from the free throw line to rack up a game-high 26 points with nine rebounds in the Green Wave's 80-72 home win over SMU on Wednesday evening. The effort marked his seventh 20-point game of the season and second-highest single-game scoring total of the season.

Hightower followed up that performance with 18 points, five assists and four steals in a 75-74 comeback road win over UCF on Saturday afternoon. He came up with two of his steals in the final minute to lead the Wave's late surge.

Up next, Tulane caps Carnival season on the road at Tulsa on Fat Tuesday, February 25. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. (CT), and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
