
Track and Field Readies for Frank Sevigne Invitational in Nebraska

NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane indoor track and field team hits the road and heads to Lincoln, Nebraska this weekend to compete in the two-day 45th Annual Frank Sevigne Invitational.
The Green Wave will face 38 teams in this weekend's meet at the Devaney Center, including Creighton, Drake, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas City, Kansas State, Maryland, Missouri State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Omaha, South Dakota State, Southeast Missouri State, Texas State and Wichita State at the Division I level.
The women's pole vault, long jump and 60-meter hurdles are the first events for the Green Wave on Friday, beginning at 6 p.m. The 60-meter dash is set to start at 6:42 p.m., and will be followed by the 5000 meter at 7:22 p.m. and the 400-meter dash at 7:45 p.m.
Kicking things off on Saturday is the women's high jump and the first section of the 200-meter dash, each beginning at 11:30 a.m. The next event for the Olive and Blue is the 800 meter at 12:55 p.m., followed by the first section of the 3000 meter at 1:25 p.m. The triple jump is set for 2 p.m., with the shot put at 2:15 p.m., while the second sections of the 200-meter and 3000-meter races are scheduled for 2:10 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. respective start times. Tulane wraps up its day in the 4x400 meter relay, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
Sophomore Trina Malej shined in Tulane's last time out on the track, winning the triple jump at the Houston P5 & Mid-Major Invitational with a new career-high distance of 12.61 meters (41-4.50). Junior Kyah Loyd also continued on with her strong sprinting performance, finishing sixth among some of the best in the world in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.49 seconds.
