Men's Tennis Falls to Texas Tech, 4-3

The Green Wave (4-4) got behind early in doubles when the Red Raiders (4-3) drew first blood with a 6-2 win on court two, but redshirt freshman Benji Jacobson and senior Ewan Moore responded with a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 spot. Texas Tech was able to close out on court one shortly after however by a 6-2 count to take a 1-0 lead in the overall match.
Tulane put forth a dominant effort early in singles, taking the first set on courts one, two, three, four and six. Junior and 64th-ranked Hamish Stewart tied the match up, 1-1, with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 win over 62nd-ranked Ilgiz Valiev on court two. Senior Luis Erlenbusch put the Wave in front with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Reed Collier on court three and senior Dane Esses put Tulane within one win of clinching by taking down Isaac Arevalo, 6-3, 6-3, on court four.
Trailing 3-1, Texas Tech earned a straight-set win on court five to cut its deficit to 3-2, before bouncing back from lost first sets on courts one and six, respectively, to win the subsequent two frames on both courts and complete the comeback win.
Tulane returns to the courts next Sunday, February 16 against SMU. First serve is scheduled noon at the City Park Tennis Center.
