Bowling Completes Regular Season at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The No. 20 Tulane Green Wave bowling team wrapped up regular season competition on Sunday with a 13th place finish at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tennessee.
Tulane finished the tournament with an 8-5 overall record, knocking down 12,496 pins to finish with a pin average of 189.3.
Junior Madison McCall had the highest individual finish for the team this weekend, finishing 50th overall after knocking down 944 pins for a 188.80 pin average. Isabelle Lee finished in 64th place, knocking down 913 pins for a 182.60 pin average.
Veronica Petrinec was the final Tulane bowler in the top 100, finishing 93rd with 801 pins, which included a career-high 248 game and a pin average of 200.25.
Sunday opened with a match against a familiar opponent in the UAB Blazers, as the opposition proved to be too much as UAB took the first three matches before Tulane could pull one back, eventually falling 4-1 (244-175, 216-172, 182-158, 187-205, 215-184). The Green Wave put up a much better fight against Lincoln Memorial in the next match, but still couldn't get over the hump falling 4-2 (156-212, 215-205, 173-203, 219-171, 201-134, 192-176).
Tulane bounced back in the final bracket match against Sacred Heart, rolling two games of 200 to set the tone before the Pioneers could get going and going on to pull out the match 4-1 (237-173, 212-172, 173-221, 244-154, 225-177).
Saturday saw the team sitting in 12th place after traditional matches, going 3-2 in matches to go into the finals on Sunday with a 7-4 record. The squad finished day two knocking down 4,576 pins for a two-day total of 9,410 and pin average of 188.2.
Upper Iowa was first up and the Green Wave earned an early win, 951-792. Tulane just breezed past Lewis University in the next match, winning 836-826. Central Missouri dealt Tulane a 1,057-944 loss, falling to Southland Bowling League member Valparaiso 868-836.
The team responded in a big way to end Saturday, earning a 1,009-873 win over Sam Houston State who finished the day sitting in 10th place.
The team opened the classic in a big way, going 4-1 on the day in the Baker matches to sit in seventh place after Friday ended. Tulane knocked down 4,834 pins, sitting with a pin average of 193.4, just a few pins shy of sixth place.
In the first match of the day, Tulane earned a 914-703 victory over North Central College before falling to the hosting Commodores in the next match 958-873. In the third match, the Green Wave took down Southland rival Youngstown State 934-880, moving on to knock down 1,019 pins in a big win over Adelphi.
Tulane closed out the day even better, knocking down 1,094 pins in a win over Lincoln Memorial.
