Jannetta Named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane left-handed pitcher Luke Jannetta has been named to Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-America Team for the 2020 season according to an announcement by the organization.
Jannetta's award comes just seven days after junior right-hander Braden Olthoff was selected to Collegiate Baseball's All-America Second Team. He is Tulane's first pitcher to earn freshman All-America honors since Ross Massey in 2016.
During his dominant debut season in Uptown, Jannetta racked up 16 strikeouts in 19.2 innings while surrendering just 12 hits and one walk. In his seven total appearances, he made two starts while posting a 3-0 record with a 1.37 ERA. Opposing hitters batted just .171 against him.
Jannetta finished the year ranked first in the American Athletic Conference in strikeout-to-walk ratio (16.00) and his 0.46 walks per nine innings not only led the league but also ranked 11th in the NCAA. His strikeout-to-walk ratio stood 12th nationally.
