Women's Tennis Sweeps Alcorn State to Start 2021 Campaign

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's tennis team was dominant in its 2021 debut scoring a pair of shutout wins over Alcorn State on Thursday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
Graduate student Mary Caroline Meredith, junior Adelaide Lavery and freshman Cora Barber each recorded two singles wins on the day. In doubles, the 54th-ranked duo of Meredith and Mackenzie Clark also earned two victories at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while Lavery and Borland teamed up for a 2-0 performance at the No. 2 position.
Tulane got the day started with a quick doubles point clinch thanks to wins on courts one and two, respectively. The Green Wave made quick work of the Braves in singles, as Lavery, Meredith and Barber earned straight-set victories on courts two, three and six, respectively, to close out the 4-0 win.
The Wave returned for the second match in the afternoon and eased through doubles with wins by the count of 6-1, 6-1, and 6-0 on the three courts. Tulane proceeded to win all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the undefeated effort.
The Green Wave return to action Saturday, January 23 to host Southern University at noon.
