Women's Tennis Blanks Southern, 7-0

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team picked up its third straight win to start the 2021 season with a 7-0 victory over Southern University on Saturday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
The Green Wave (3-0) took advantage of the short-handed Jaguars (0-1) by securing No. 3 doubles by default. Tulane then scored a 6-1 win on court two thanks to Adelaide Lavery and Kristen Borland to clinch the first team point of the match. The 54th-ranked duo of Mackenzie Clark and Mary Caroline Meredith made it a sweep by winning the final five games to close out a 6-2 victory on court one.
Tulane brought the same level of focus into singles play with a win by default at No. 6 singles. Lahari Yelamanchili was first to complete her match with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court three, before Borland clinched the overall match with a win by the same score on court four.
The Wave eventually closed out courts one, two and five in straight sets to lock in the 7-0 shutout victory.
Up next, Tulane remains home to host the University of New Orleans on Thursday, January 28. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
