Cross Country Crosses the River to Compete at Nicholls

NEW ORLEANS– The Tulane University cross country team will travel to the Bayou on Saturday for its second race this season. The Green Wave will compete in the 3rd Annual Nicholls XC Invitational in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
The Tulane women will begin the invitational with a 5-kilometer run at 8 a.m., they will be followed by the men racing a four-mile course at 8:30 a.m. Competing against the Green Wave will be hosts Nicholls, Southeastern, Loyola New Orleans, Xavier New Orleans, and Dillard.
The team last saw competition two weeks ago at the North Alabama Showcase. Where the women's team finished 12th among the 21-team field and posted 343 points in the 5-kilometer race. While the men's team placed 14th among the 17-team field in the 8K race and tallied 387 points.
Senior Therese Olhanski is one to watch heading into the invitational. She led the way last meet, finished 20th in a time of 17:33.84.
On the men's side, junior Evans Kipchumbba is out Infront after his performance in Huntsville, Al., as he finished 54th in a time of 25:50.86.
SCHEDULE:
7 a.m. - Colonel Cross Country 5k (Community Race)
8 a.m. - University Women 5k
8:30 a.m. - University Men 4 Mile
9 a.m. - High School Girl 5k
9:30 a.m. - High School Boy 5k
10 a.m. - Junior Varsity Girl 2 Mile
10:30 a.m. - Junior Varsity Boy 2 Mile
AWARDS:
T-shirts will be presented to the top 10 individual finishers in every category. Team awards will only be presented to the first-place teams.
After Saturday, Tulane will have its next meet on October 16 in College Station, Texas at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational.
