
Cross Country Competed in the Arturo Barrios Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The Tulane University men's and women's cross country teams competed in their second meet of the season at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday.
The women's team finished 24th among the 33-team field and posted 630 points in the 6-kilometer race. The men's team placed 27th among the 32-team field in the 8-K race and tallied 736 points.
"We are where we are right now and that's okay," director of cross country/track and field Adrian Myers said. "We're building each week and getting stronger."
Senior Therese Olshanski led the way for the women's team as she finished 23rd with a time of 14:50.8. Tulane's next finisher was junior Laura Croll, as she clocked a time of 15:28.7.
Macy Turcotte (154th, 23:24.6), Brenda Ellis (208th, 24:27.1) and Abigail Heck (239th 25:30.5) rounded out the Green Wave lineup.
"Therese Olhanski did a fantastic job racing up front with some of the best athletes in the country. I am really looking forward to how she closes out the season at the AAC Championships and regionals," Myers said. "Laura Croll continues to get better every single week, the work that she puts in she'll produce over the coming months."
On the men's side, junior Evans Kipchumbba finished 93rd for the Green Wave with a time of 25:12.0. Teammates Tucker Poshard placed 125th (25:36.1) while Adam Aldahair placed 194th (26:46.8).
Ian Valdez (205th 27:01.2), Bethwel Tum (224th 27:27.8), Iker Yturralde (235th 27:56.2) and Jamie (Polakoff 247th 28:44.1) round out the Tulane men's times.
"It's nice to come out here and have numerous significant PR's especially from some of our younger athletes. It means we're doing something right and turning things in the right direction," Myers said.
Tulane returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, as it heads to Tampa, Florida for the American Athletic Conference Championship.
"Bright future ahead for the program and baby steps on the way of getting to our end goal. All in all, very happy with our group and where were trending" Myers said.
