No. 16 Tulane Bowling Continues to Impress at Colonial Lanes Classic

HARAHAN, La. - Coming off an impressive performance in Friday's matches, the No.16-ranked Tulane Bowling team maintained their determination to make a name for themselves on day two of the Colonial Lanes Classic.
The Green Wave finished Saturday 2-3, making their overall tournament record 7-3.
"We had a steady day score wise, but we lost a couple of matches we should have won," said head coach Hayley Veitch. "We continued to be competitive, and we are still in a good position going into day three."
In the first match, Tulane remained in close competition with No. 6 Sam Houston State. Despite an impressive early push on the lanes, the Wave lost the first match 1,021-1,098.
Match two proved to be the comeback the Olive and Blue needed, resulting in Tulane besting No. 5 North Carolina A&T 1,028-972.
In match three, Tulane stayed neck in neck with Alabama State throughout the game before falling by less than 30 pins for a 1,003-1,032 final.
Tulane saw an explosive match four with the Green Wave dominating Grambling State for a its second win of the day. The Olive and Blue more than doubled the Grambling pin total to beat the Tigers 1,018-495.
With a 2-2 record coming into the final match of the day, Tulane prepared to meet Sam Houston State on the lanes once again.
Coming in with an aggressive attack game, the Green Wave bowlers stuck with the Bearkats strike for strike before finishing the match with only a 25-point deficit at 980-1,005.
Tulane ended Saturday with an impressive third place pinfall total out of 14 teams, finishing the day with 10,134 pins.
Madison McCall and Amelia Vasquez led the Tulane team in total pinfall, averaging 221.6 and 206.4 pins knocked down per game, respectively. McCall and Vasquez's impressive scores landed them on the tournament's top 20 individual leaderboard, with McCall placing sixth overall in the tournament.
Tulane will finish out the Colonial Lanes Classic tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m.
