
No. 16 Tulane Bowling Opens the Dezy Strong Classic

CORAM, N.Y. – The No. 16-rank Tulane Bowling team got off to an aggressive start at the Dezy Strong Tournament going 3-2 on Friday. The Green Wave knocked down 4,641 pins, averaging 185.6 per game. Tulane's day-one pin total places 4th of 16 team field.
Tulane started the day off slow dropping the first set of baker matches 824-972 to Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In match two, Tulane outscored Monmouth University 994-824. Although the took matches two and four in the end it wasn't enough to break through the Wave's power.
In match three, the Olive and Blue found themselves trailing early, falling behind the Sharks of Long Island University after three games. However, the team demonstrated its resiliency mounting a comeback but not quite enough to claim the win.
Tulane faced off against Mount St. Mary's in the fourth match. The match up went back and forth for most of the game, but in the end, Tulane would beat MSM 954-890.
The team's record remained tied at 2-2 through four matches, the last win would come against St. Francis PA. Despite dropping the fourth match, the Wave managed to knock down just a couple more in all other matches to win the affair 959-863.
Fourth ranked Vanderbilt leads all teams with 4,816 total pinfall. The Commadores are averaging 192.6 pins per game. Fairleigh Dickson University, Long Island University, Tulane and Stephen F. Austin State University round out the rest of the top-five.
Tulane will return to action tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. for traditional play. The teams will compete in five traditional matches on Saturday, and the cumulative pinfall from days one and two will determine the seeding for Sunday's bracket. Â
