Tulane Baseball Takes 18-inning Scrimmage from Lamar, 6-3
Nov 6, 2021 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS - The Green Wave baseball team started its fall campaign with a win on Saturday by outlasting Lamar 6-3 through 18 innings of fall baseball.Â
Â
"We were in mid-season form as far as strikes go, we threw strike, after strike, after strike," head coach Travis Jewett said, "It was a pitching and defensive day. We didn't give them anything and made them earn it all. That is the basis for a championship team. As far as offense goes, the ballpark played a little big due to weather, but our guys got some good swings on the ball. All around I am very happy with our performance today."
Â
The Olive and Blue plated six runs on thirteen hits with six RBI in the 18 innings. Tulane also drew seven walks in the scrimmage.
Â
Defensively, the Green Wave claimed 13 strike outs from 11 members of the pitching staff. Defensively Tulane put away 54 batters with only two errors committed.Â
Â
The Olive and Blue struck first by plating a run in the bottom of the first off of an RBI single to right field off the bat of freshman Brady Marget. The first baseman drove in redshirt junior Brady Hebert.Â
Â

Â
The 14th saw more offensive action from the Uptown squad, as the Wave scored three runs on two hits to bring the score to 6-1. Lambert and freshman, Landry Alligood, were responsible for the runs.Â
Â
