NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team sets out for the first of a pair of road matches at Alabama on Friday, February 12 at 1 p.m.
The Green Wave (5-1) will then head to Mississippi State to face the Bulldogs at 1 p.m., on Feb. 14.
SCOUTING ALABAMA
The Crimson Tide (7-1) enter Friday's match coming off a 7-0 home win over Troy on Feb. 10. Their lone loss of the spring came at home in a 4-3 decision to Furman on Feb. 6.
LAST TIME THEY MET – MARCH 6, 2011
The last regular-season meeting between the programs was played at the former Goldring Tennis Stadium at Tulane in 2011, as the Crimson Tide earned a 7-0 win. The most recent matchup to take place in Tuscaloosa was March 21, 2010 when Alabama held on for a 4-0 victory.
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI STATE
The Bulldogs (7-0) will play their first match in seven days against the Green Wave on Sunday following a 7-0 home win over North Alabama the week prior. Mississippi State is led by the nation's 69th-ranked singles player, Emma Antonaki, who is unbeaten this spring. In doubles, Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine comprise the nation's 41st-ranked tandem.
LAST TIME THEY MET – MARCH 13, 2012
Tulane swept the doubles point with wins on all three courts, but Mississippi State stormed back with four singles victories to escape with a 4-3 win in New Orleans. The last meeting in Starkville was Feb. 25, 2010 which ended in a similar fashion, with the Green Wave claiming doubles, but the Bulldogs taking four singles matches for a 4-3 victory.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane earned its fourth shutout victory of the season with a dominant, 7-0 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Feb. 7. The Green Wave won on courts one and three in doubles, before claiming all six singles matches in straight sets.
TULANE IN THE ITA RANKINGS
Green Wave sophomore Mackenzie Clark is ranked No. 108 in the ITA's national singles rankings to begin the season. In doubles, Clark and 2020 ITA All-American Mary Caroline Meredith comprise the nation's No. 54 duo.
THE DOUBLES POINT
The Green Wave are 5-0 this season when winning the doubles point and 0-1 when they do not. Tulane has won all three doubles matches in three of the five instances in which they clinch the first team point.
