Bowling Falls in Southland Bowling League Championship

HARAHAN, La. – The No. 17 Tulane University bowling team fell to No. 3 Vanderbilt and No. 16 Stephen F. Austin in the first day of the Southland Bowling League Championship on Friday at Colonial Lanes.
"We never got into a rhythm this morning with our shot making, and before we knew it the match was over," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "In my opinion, we were putting too much pressure on ourselves to make shots. A different team came out this afternoon and fought for every shot they threw. It was an intense match against SFA, and I am impressed with how we competed. Sadly, we fell a little short to finish off a great match."
The Green Wave dropped the first best of three matchup with Vanderbilt, 2-0. The Commodores took the Traditional match 949-840 to start the day. The Green Wave then fell in the Total Pins match 976-813 in four.
Tulane then moved to the lower bracket and faced the Lumberjacks from Stephen F. Austin. The Lumberjacks took the team match 1,052-930, but the Green Wave fought back in the Total Pins. The Olive and Blue grabbed the win 1,024-939 in total pins.
The match then went to a best of seven to decide the winner. SFA won the match 4-3 (196-225; 191-169; 153-212; 205-183; 226-237; 206-203; 268-200).
Tulane finishes the regular season with a 27-28 overall record.
