ORLANDO — Battling tough weather conditions, the Tulane track and field team finished up the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by UCF.
Trina Malej won the triple jump with a strong mark of 13.12m, but because of wind, this will not be counted in the Tulane record book. However, Malej's mark will assist in qualifying for postseason and conference championship seeding.
Maren Butler placed second in the shot put for a new personal record and earned a third place spot in the Tulane record book for her mark of 14.48m. Butler also placed third in the discus throw with a distance of 40.39m - an improvement from the last meet.
Melisa Toilolo progressed in her shot put throw, as she ranked fifth at the meet with a mark of 13.35m and moved into seventh place spot in the Tulane record book. With her fifth place finish in the 100m hurdles, Migle Muraskaite secured a considerable lifetime personal best with a time of 14.36.
