Women's Tennis Shuts Out Wichita State, 4-0

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's tennis team collected its third straight win in shutout fashion defeating American Athletic Conference foe Wichita State, 4-0, on Monday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
The Green Wave (12-8) got the day started with the dominant performance in doubles, as Mackenzie Clark and Mary Caroline Meredith rolled to a 6-1 victory on court one. Kristen Borland and Adelaide Lavery were close behind, as they closed out court two, 6-3, to clinch the first team point of the match.
Tulane remained poised in singles, winning the first set on four courts while Wichita State (10-15) did so on two. Lavery extended the lead to 2-0 when she cruised past Natsumi Kurahashi, 6-3, 6-1, on court four.
On the two courts the Wave dropped first sets (No. 3 and No. 6), they bounced back to win the second frame and force third sets in each matchup. Meanwhile, Clark continued her impressive spring with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 win over Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva on court one to push the Shockers to the brink, 3-0.
Freshman Cora Barber would provide the clinch from the No. 5 spot in the lineup, outlasting Jessie Zheng, 7-5, 6-4, to complete the shutout.
Tulane closes out its 2021 regular season at home for Senior Day on Wednesday, April 14 against Memphis. A brief ceremony honoring Mary Caroline Meredith will take place approximately 11:50 a.m.
