No. 20 Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season at Rice

NEW ORLEANS - The 20th-ranked Tulane men's tennis team travels to Houston, Texas for its 2021 regular-season finale in a road match against Rice on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (13-6) picked up its sixth win in its last seven matches with a 5-2 Senior Day home win over No. 36 VCU on April 11. The Green Wave earned the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, respectively, before winning four of six singles contests.
SCOUTING RICE
The Owls (9-10) enter Saturday's match coming off a 6-1 home win over Prairie View A&M last Sunday. Rice has won just two of its last six contests, but owns an 8-5 record on its home courts this spring. The Owls are led by Mohamed Abdel-Aziz who owns an 11-4 singles record this season, including 5-2 marks when playing at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in the lineup, respectively. In doubles, Conrad Russell and Sumit Sarkar own an 8-4 ledger playing on court one and hold a No. 72 national ranking.

Tulane collected its third straight win in the all-time series, 6-1, over the Owls at the City Park Tennis Center. The Green Wave won the doubles point and took five of the singles singles bouts.
IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest ITA team rankings released on April 14, the Green Wave are ranked No. 20 in the national poll. In the singles rankings, senior Hamish Stewart is No. 30, while he and fifth-year senior Ewan Moore comprise the nation's No. 29 doubles tandem.
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in 14 of its 19 matches this season and own a combined 33-16 (.673) overall record. Stewart and Moore are 11-6 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while freshman Billy Suarez and senior Akos Kotorman are 12-4 playing at the No. 2 position.
CAGING ALL TIGERS!
The Green Wave collected three consecutive wins over teams nicknamed "Tigers" when they defeated Memphis (4-0) on March 13, Auburn (4-3) on March 19 and LSU (6-1) on March 21.
BOORAS WINS NO. 150
In his 12th season at the helm of the program, director of tennis and head coach Mark Booras earned his 150th career victory in Tulane's 4-3 home win over Auburn on March 19.
AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Hamish Stewart was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 16 for the fourth time in his career after receiving the recognition once as a junior in 2020 and twice in 2019 as a sophomore.
