
Track and Field Takes Trip to Tuscaloosa

NEW ORLEANS—The Tulane track and field team will compete in Tuscaloosa, Ala., beginning Thursday, April 8 at the Crimson Tide Invitational. The meet will be held Thursday through Saturday, April 10.
The Green Wave will compete against 14 other teams at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium.
On Thursday, the multi-events for the heptathlon will begin for Migle Muraskaite and Kristen O'Handley and will continue into Friday.
The track and field events will begin for the rest of the team Friday after the multi-events finish. The first event for the Green Wave will be the hammer throw at 4 p.m. After a break, the triple jump will begin at 8:30. Track events will start at 8 p.m. with the women's and then the men's 1500m run. To close off Friday evening, at 8:40, will be the 5000m run, once again women followed by men.
The meet will kick off again Saturday morning with the discus throw at 11 a.m. At noon will be the long jump. The high jump is next at 2:50 p.m. and then the pole vault at 3. Closing out the field events will be the javelin at 3:30 and the shot put at 3:50.
Track events will begin for the Green Wave at 1:20 p.m. with the 100m hurdles, followed by the 400m dash, women and then men at 2. Next up will be the women's and then men's 800m run at 3:25, and then the 400m hurdles at 4:10. The 200m dash, women and then men, follows at 4:45. And to finish the weekend will be the 4x400m relay at 6:05.
Tri Malej looks to continue a season-long winning streak in the triple jump. Malej earned a 12.58m mark last week at the UAB Spring Invitational.
Louise Jones will compete again in the 400m hurdles. Last week, Jones won the event with a new personal record time of 1:01.74.
It will be the first outdoor heptathlon this season for Migle Muraskaite and Kristen O'Handley, but both have competed incredibly so far in multiple events this outdoor season. Muraskaite has earned consistent points in the shot put and the 100m hurdles, while O'Handley has also competed strongly in the 100m hurdles.
