NEW ORLEANS - The 24th-ranked Tulane men's tennis team got its final home weekend started on a high note by defeating American Athletic Conference foe and 29th-ranked Wichita State, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
The Green Wave (12-6) kept an early lead in doubles by earning early breaks on courts one and two, respectively, before Akos Kotorman and Billy Suarez closed out a 6-3 win on court two. Ranked 45th nationally, the senior duo of Ewan Moore and Hamish Stewart finished a short while later, defeating the 72nd-ranked tandem of Marius Forsa and Murkel Dellien, 6-4, on court one to clinch the first team point.

The Shockers (14-6) got on the scoreboard with a straight-set win on court five, but the Green Wave muscled their way across the victory threshold when Moore closed out a 7-6(6), 6-2 victory over Forsa on court two just moments before Suarez closed out Orel Ovil, 7-6(7), 6-2, at the No. 4 spot in the lineup.
Tulane tacked on its final point of the day when freshman Rafael de Alba bounced back from a lost first set, 6-1, to win the final two frames, 6-3 and 6-4, to push the lead to 5-1 with his fourth consecutive win.
