Manhattan, Kansas – The Green Wave Women's Golf team finished up their second invitational of the fall season on Tuesday at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational.
"We got off to a really poor start and found it difficult to gain any momentum from there" head women's golf coach Stew Burke said. "Yesterday put us in a solid position to compete for the team title and as we continue to put ourselves in these positions, I'm confident we'll learn to close out events. We'll use today as a learning experience, and I take pride in how the ladies played day one."
Junior Sandra Vazquez led the way with a total score of 10-over 216 to tie for 23rd. She posted her best score in the first-round shooting par at 72. Vazquez carded a score of four-over par at 76 in the second round and six-over par in the final round.
Fellow junior Hanna Liu and sophomore Cleo Liu both finished tied for 28th after carding scores of 11-over par for a total of 227. Both girls struggled in the final round of action, Hanna carded seven-over par at 79, while Cleo carded eight-over at 80.
