Cook, Forbes, Cross Earn American Conference Preseason Honors
Oct 12, 2022 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Men's Basketball were selected to finish fourth in the American Athletic Conference, while Jalen Cook, Jaylen Forbes and Kevin Cross earned preseason honors in voting done by the league's head coaches, the conference announced Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Â
Houston was tabbed the favorite for the fourth consecutive year, receiving all 10 possible first-place votes and a total of 100 points. Memphis received one first-place vote and 87 total points to be picked second. Cincinnati is third with 82 points, followed by Tulane with 74.
Â
Jalen Cook was selected as was one of three unanimous selections on the Preseason All-Conference First Team. After averaging 18.0 points per game, the highest for a freshman in the American, Cook looks to have a dominant sophomore season.
Â
The Preseason All-Conference Second Team consists of the duo of forward Kevin Cross and guard Jaylen Forbes.
Â
Cross was the only player in the AAC to rank in the league's top 10 in scoring (13.9), field goal percentage (52.0), rebounding (6.8) and assists (3.6) last season. Forbes played the most minutes of anyone in the conference last season, proving reliable for the young team.
