FINAL RESULTS
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Carla Bernat won her second title of the fall season on Monday afternoon by carding a new career low of 65 to finish 8-under in the Jim West Challenge. In the team standings, Tulane finished fifth overall.
Â
Â
No. 27 Oklahoma State won the team title, shooting 9-under. Tulane beat four ranked teams in Tulsa, Ohio State, TCU and New Mexico and carded the best team round of the field on the final day with a 281.
Â
"We finished off our Fall season with a monster round," head coach Stew Burke said. "We knew coming into this week that we'd see some of the best teams in the country and would need to be at our best to compete. The ladies collectively played solid through the first two rounds and put up the day's best score. Carla's win was a great end to a very impressive first Fall season for her. Both Coach Rinko (Mitsunaga) and I are proud of this group and all they have achieved this Fall and look forward to a great Spring season."
Â
Ranked 51st in the country, Bernat finished above 11 other ranked individuals in her victory. The sophomore carded a 70-73-65 and ends her fall season with four top ten finishes.
Â
Matilde Innocenti shot 70-72-71 and completed the tournament tied for eighth place, the first top ten result of her career.
Â
Sandra Vazquez shot par in the final round to finish tied for 43rd. Cleo Liu checked in at 8-over and Carlota Palacios came home 13-over.
