The Wave is Getting Ready to Roll Once Again at Home This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS- The Tulane University volleyball team is ready for another weekend at home for two inner conference play as it hosts East Carolina University and Temple University. The conference face-off will begin Friday, Oct. 28, inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave (7-14, 2-8 AAC) will first take on East Carolina University (8-14, 3-7 AAC) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. before returning to the court to take on Temple University (8-13, 2-8 AAC) on Sunday at noon.

ย The Green Wave fought hard last weekend but ended up dropping its first match in three sets to Tulsa (17-25, 23-25, 20-25) on Friday. The Wave was victorious in an intense five-set match over Wichita State (25-17, 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-4), gaining a conference win on Sunday afternoon at the Avron B. Fogelman Arena inside Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Olive and Blue showed its talents on the court this weekend. In its first matchup against Tulsa, Outside hitter Melissa Kolurbasi led the Wave with ten kills and hitting .273 overall. Libero Jillian Dits controlled the defensive duties with 23 digs, one reception, and three assists. Senior setter Kate Van Houten tallied 29 assists and nine digs. The Green Wave concluded the match with 40 kills, 34 assists, five aces, 58 digs, three blocks, and a 29% passing rate.

ย Against the Shockers, the Green Wave battled for an intense five-set match that ended with the Wave gaining a big conference win at home. The Tulane volleyball team had its 11th-most team kills in program history, with a total of 77 in the match. Libero JILLIAN DITS also had a career-high of 29 digs this match, along with three double-doubles by MACKENZIE MARTIN, AMARACHI OSUJI, KATE VAN HOUTEN.

The Pirates suffered two conference losses last week, dropping a five-set tussle to Memphis (10-8) on Friday the 21st, followed by a 3-0 loss to SMU Sunday the 23rd (25-13, 25-19, 25-23). The last time the Green Wave and the Pirates matched up this season was Sunday, Oct. 2. The Wave battled hard but fell just short to ECU at the Minges Coliseum by scores of (27-25, 21-25, 16-25, 19-25).
