
The Green Wave Gears Up for a Weekend of Conference Play at Home

NEW ORLEANS- The Tulane University volleyball team is excited to return home for two inner conference games this weekend as they host the University of South Florida and No. 23 the University of Central Florida. The conference face-offs will begin Friday inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave (5-10, 0-4 AAC) will take on the University of South Florida (6-8, 0-2 AAC) on Friday at 5:00 p.m. before returning to the court to battle No. 23 the University of Central Florida (12-0, 4-0 AAC) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.Â

RECAP-
The Green Wave fought hard last weekend but ended up dropping an intense five-set match to Temple (24-26, 25-21, 26-24, 22-25, 11-15) on Friday and fell just short to ECU on Sunday by scores of (27-25, 21-25, 16-25, 19-25).Â

The Olive and Blue showed its offensive talents on the road this weekend. Highlights from the weekend included graduate student Amarachi Osuji leading the Wave with 22 kills, hitting .255 overall. The outside hitter also landed six digs and a block and totaled 22.5 points against the Owls. Senior setter Kate Van Houten moved the ball well, tallying a season-high 60 assists and 11 digs to grab her sixth double-double of the season.Â

Against Pirates, Osuji and Kayla Kaiser had 15 and eight kills, respectively. Osuji also claimed 18 digs to earn her first double-double of the season.
The defense was spearheaded by libero Jillian Dits who accounted for 14 of the team's 69 overall digs.

The University of South Florida is currently 6-8 this season and ranked 10th in the AAC standings. The Bulls wrapped up their first conference weekend of the season, dropping a five-set match to Memphis on Sunday the 25th, after falling short in their conference opener against SMU on Friday the 23rd.

The University of Central Florida No.23 holds a 12-0 record in the 2022 campaign and is ranked first in the AAC standings as well as seventh in RPI. The Knights have had an impressive season thus far with zero losses. The team secured two more wins for their season last weekend against the University of Tulsa (9-6) and Wichita State (7-7). the University of Central Florida will take on the University of Huston (13-2) on Friday, October the 7th, before traveling to New Orleans on the 9th.Â
