Makuvire Finishes Season At NCAA Championships
Nov 19, 2022 | Cross Country
Stillwater, Okla. - Bradley Makuvire ran in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Saturday morning.
"Bradley executed closely to the plan we had to go through the opening K conservatively and move up progressively through 6-7K, and be all heart from there," director of cross country track and field Adrian Myers said. "The splits reflect an adherence to the plan, but just couldn't sustain over the final 4K. Most people wouldn't know, but Bradley was injured most of the summer and started a bit behind through most of the fall. Doing the things he's done this fall is a testament to his willpower and aspirations. He told me early in the fall that no matter what, he will give his best to the team. He's done that for us this fall and this fall will be a building block for the biggest track season of his career in 2023. You will see him back here next fall, and coming back with hardware."
The junior ran a 30:36.4 10k and finished in 169th place in a field of 255. His career best in the 10k is 30:42.7, which he ran at the South Central Region Championships a week ago.

"As a program we now must aspire to getting our teams here and knowing what it take to do that," Myers said. "There is an identity it requires and we are still learning that. We are recruiting some of the best athletes on the globe in hopes of seeing the olive and green putting 7 sets of spikes in this NCAA championship boxes in the near future for both genders. The Tulane cross country standard is slowly being set and I look forward to watching those that work to raise it."
This concludes the cross country season and focus will shift to track and field.Follow Tulane cross country and track & field on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Follow Tulane Athletics on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
