Tulane Announces Contract Extension for Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Adrian Myers
Apr 27, 2026 | Cross Country, Track & Field
NEW ORLEANS — Tulane University is pleased to announce the extension of Adrian Myers' contract as the Green Wave's Director of Cross Country and Track & Field through the 2030-31 season. Myers, who has led the program since summer 2021, has demonstrated exceptional leadership and achieved remarkable success in elevating Tulane's programs.
Since his arrival in Uptown, Myers has transformed the Green Wave's teams, leading to numerous accomplishments, including four American Conference team championships and two appearances at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships. The men finished 21st at the national meet last fall and 28th in 2024.
Last fall, both cross country programs also achieved their highest USTFCCCA (U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) national rankings. The men checked in at 17, while the women's ranking of 25 was its first-ever.
The four American Conference titles (2023 Women's Cross Country, 2024 Men's Cross Country, 2025 Women's Indoor Track and Field, 2025 Women's Cross Country) were the programs' first, snapping a 22-year conference title drought (2001 Conference USA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships). They are also the most for any Green Wave head coach since Tulane joined the league for the 2014-15 school year.
Tulane captured its first NCAA South Central Regional men's cross country title in 2025 and finished in the top three on the women's side in that meet in each of the past two seasons — the highest placements in the programs' history. The 2025 men's title was also the first South Central victory by a school other than Arkansas or Texas.
Myers, who has been named USTFCCCA Coach of the Year three times, has also helped the Green Wave receive four American Conference Staff of the Year nods.
"Adrian's vision and commitment have been instrumental in building a competitive and nationally recognized program," said Tulane's Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair David Harris. "We are excited to extend his contract and are confident that he will continue to lead Tulane's cross country and track & field programs to new levels of success."
Under his guidance, the program has produced seven All-Americans, 41 NCAA national qualifiers, 17 American Conference individual champions and 80 American Conference medalists.
"I would like to thank President Michael A. Fitts, David Harris, and Justin Schemmel (Tulane's Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer and Cross Country/Track & Field sport administrator) for offering and extending my opportunity to lead this program," Myers said. "I believe we are only beginning to see what can be achieved here at Tulane in Cross Country and Track & Field. Having established the program and our championship standard over the first five years, my goal is to continue elevating our status as the best program in the American and as a fast-rising NCAA elite. We are just getting started, and I am incredibly excited to see what we can accomplish."
The Green Wave is back in action this weekend, sending student-athletes to compete at the Alumni Muster in College Station, Texas and at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge.
