Women’s Basketball Adds Madison-Key and Ba to 2023 Signing Class

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball announced the addition of Joy Madison-Key and Lilybeth Ba to the class of 2023.
"We are very excited to add Joy and Lilybeth to our Green Wave family," Head Coach Lisa Stockton said. "They are both exceptional student-athletes that fit our culture and style of play very well. Both student-athletes are products of competitive high school and AAU programs in their respective states."
Madison-Key is a 5-8 guard out of South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas. She is coming off her junior season during which she helped her team finish as the state runner-up with a 35-5 record. Madison-Key earned First Team All-District after averaging 9.1 points, 5.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game in her junior campaign. She also reached the Texas State Tournament in her sophomore season.
Outside of her high school career, Madison-Key also played for the North Texas Shockers during the summer where she averaged 12.5 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.0 steals per game.
"Joy is a savvy point guard that has the ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor," Stockton said. "Her play making ability and excellent court vision allow her to create great scoring opportunities for her teammates and herself. Her speed and intensity on the defensive end add another element of toughness to our guard core. Joy is coming from a strong girls' basketball program at South Grand Prairie where she competes in the top class in the State of Texas each year."
Ba is a four-year letterwinner from Blue Valley West High School in Overland Park, Kansas, where she led her team to an appearance in the State Playoffs as a junior. The 6-3 center finished her junior season averaged 13.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game to earn Third Team Eastern Kansas League honors. Ba also picked up Honorable Mention selection in the Eastern Kansas League following her sophomore season in 2021. She was selected as her team's Offensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2022 and picked as the Most Valuable Freshman in 2020.
Ba plays elite summer basketball for the Missouri Phenom AAU organization. Missouri Phenom competes on the NIKE EYBL circuit, which is one of the top girls summer basketball league in the country.
"Lilybeth brings us much need depth at the post position," Stockton stated. "Her length and size allow her to be a solid rim protector. Lily is an efficient scorer in the paint, but she also can step out and stretch the defense from the perimeter. Lily brings a work ethic and energy level to the floor that is contagious. Her efforts on both ends of the floor will allow her to excel at the center position in our Green Wave program".
