Tulane Hosts Tougaloo College Wednesday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball will welcome Tougaloo College inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Wednesday night for its final non-conference bout. The Green Wave and the Bulldogs are set to tipoff at 6 p.m.

This marks the second all-time meeting between Tulane and Tougaloo College. The Green Wave defeated the Bulldogs 97-43 last season on February 2, 2022, at home.

In its last time out, Tulane won the Tulane Holiday Tournament by going 2-0 with wins over Saint Francis (84-41) and Tennessee Tech (71-49). Rachel Hakes was named the tournament MVP after averaging 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Marta Galic and Kyren Whittington were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

Four players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Green Wave this season. Galic leads the team with 14.3 points per contest. Jones follows with 13.4 points per game while Whittington posts 11.0 and Hakes averages 10.5 points per game. Galic leads the American Athletic Conference and ranks fourth nationally in three-pointers per game with 3.25.

Tulane ranks second the AAC in assists per game (17.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.10). Hakes leads the league in assists (74), assists per game (6.2), and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.64).

Tougaloo College enters the matchup with an 1-5 record following a 48-88 loss in its last game at Alcorn State on December 13. The Bulldogs are averaging just 61.3 points per game this season while allowing their opponents to score 73.3 points per contest. Orlandrea McGee leads the team in scoring with 14.5 points per game on 34.2 percent shooting to go with 6.5 rebounds per contest.

Following the matchup with the Bulldogs, the Green Wave will open conference play hosting South Florida in Uptown on Friday. Tipoff between Tulane and the Bulls is set for 6 p.m.
