Tulane Women’s Tennis Faces First Road Tests at Tulsa and Wichita State This Weekend
Feb 10, 2022 | Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's tennis team (3-1) will hit the road for the first time this season as it faces American Athletic Conference members Tulsa (5-1) on Friday and Wichita State (4-3) on Sunday. The Green Wave is coming off its first loss of the season falling 4-3 to Alabama on Saturday, February 5.
Â
Tulane and the Golden Hurricanes have not squared off on the courts since the 2018 spring campaign when a 23rd-ranked Tulsa squad topped the Wave 4-0. The last time Tulane defeated Tulsa came while the two programs were still Conference USA foes when the Green Wave topped the Golden Hurricanes 4-3 on February 20, 2005. The Wave claimed a 4-0 sweep in its last meeting against Wichita State when the two programs met on April 12, 2021, in New Orleans.
Junior Lahari Yelamanchili is off to a hot start for Tulane as she is unbeaten on the year in singles action at 4-0. Yelamanchili is also unblemished in doubles competition alongside her partner sophomore Charlotte Russell as they are 4-0 on the season including a win Saturday against Alabama.
The match between Tulane and Tulsa will begin at 3 p.m. CT on Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Green Wave will then square off with the Shockers at 9 a.m. CT in Wichita, Kansas, on Sunday.
